Senior Associate Director
Margaret Baddeley joined NLP in 1983. She has very considerable experience in all aspects of development planning, including specialising in the monitoring of emerging law and policy, commenting for and on behalf of clients and providing significant in-house advice on others' projects.

Jacqui Deans BA(Hons) MPhil MRTPI
Senior Associate Director
Jacqui rejoined NLP in 2005. She has a wide range of planning consultancy experience and multi-disciplinary project experience, having also worked for Railtrack plc and Thamelink 2000. Jacqui’s experience has been gained in London, overseas and more recently Manchester. Jacqui has worked on a variety of development planning projects for a diverse client base, including office headquarters, an eco-town and new retail stores and extensions.

Dave joined NLP in 1997 and leads the Newcastle office's Housing Team, clients of which include developers, landowners, house builders and the public sector. Dave has extensive experience in other areas of work including sports and recreation, hotels and leisure and education.

Anthony joined NLP in 1999 and leads the Town Centres and Retail Team in the company’s Newcastle office. He specialises in major retail and commercial development projects throughout the north of England and Scotland, providing advice to retailers, developers, asset managers and urban regeneration companies.

Senior Associate Director
Andy has recently joined NLP from One NorthEast where he was responsible for delivering their role in regional planning and housing strategy. He also represented all Regional Development Agencies influencing national policy making. He is responsible for leading the Regeneration Team in the Newcastle Office which specialises in research, strategic policy assignments and regeneration masterplanning.

Senior Associate Director
David joined NLP in October 2005 having worked previously for a London based planning consultancy and three London Boroughs. He has considerable experience of major projects, including BAA’s Terminal 5 and BA’s Waterside headquarters at Heathrow. David co-ordinates NLP's work at a number of airports in the South East, and is also responsible for major projects in the education, housing and regeneration sectors.

Senior Associate Director
Chris joined NLP in 2000 and now leads the Special Projects Team in the company’s Newcastle office. He specialises in delivering complex, major strategic development proposals throughout the north of England, providing advice to house builders, commercial developers and leisure operators. In addition Chris has also prepared research documentation for Government bodies including the Regional Government Office, North East Assembly and Regional Development Agency.

Senior Associate Director
Dennis joined NLP in 2002 having previously been the Partner responsible for the Fuller Peiser London Office Planning Department. His experience covers many aspects of development planning, including co-ordinating planning applications for large complex projects. He has focused both on commercial and mixed-use development projects and providing property advice to NLP’s corporate clients.

Christine joined NLP in June 2004 having previously worked in the Town Planning and Site Research departments at Tesco Stores Ltd. She advises on all aspects of retail development, including retail capacity and impact studies and local and national policy. She also has considerable experience relating to food retailing, planning research and data analysis.

John joined NLP in 1988. He has a wide range of planning experience over 30 years in both local government and private practice, throughout the UK and overseas. He leads the firm's research and economics teams and has particular expertise in research studies, regeneration and economic impact assessment, environmental impact assessment, education and airport development.

Nick joined NLP’s London office in 2005, having worked in both the private and public sectors. He has experience advising on a range of residential, industrial, commercial and mixed use developments. He specialises in retail development, and has promoted planning applications for food and non-food retail schemes in a range of town centre and other locations throughout the UK. Alongside larger retail and mixed use projects, he currently specialises in convenience retailing.

Simon joined NLP in 2002 and has particular experience in dealing in housing and economic development matters. He has a keen interest in the establishment and implementation of a vision for an area, the identification of need for new development and the delivery of change. Simon works for public and private sector clients and is experienced in the promotion of development, the evaluation and implementation of policy and in undertaking practical research projects.

Hayley joined NLP in 2003 and has a wide range of experience advising both public and private sector clients. She specialises in town centre and retail planning, with a particular focus on advising major retailers, developers and fund managers in respect of retail and commercial-led development projects. Hayley is experienced in coordinating project teams and delivering major planning applications for new retail developments and store extensions. Hayley also advises on mixed-use, residential and employment schemes.

Ruth joined NLP in 2005 having previously worked for a private planning consultancy practice in London. Ruth focuses on residential and mixed use development projects in London and the south east. For residential schemes, she has worked with both private developers and affordable housing providers, including those providing specialist and supported accommodation. She is also experienced in town centre and retail planning, advising owners and operators of major retail assets across the country.

Associate Director
Kay joined in 2004, having worked in HR Management for a variety of companies throughout her career. She has extensive experience of setting up the HR function for small and medium sized businesses as well as working for much larger firms. Her role at NLP is wide ranging but with an emphasis on recruitment and development. NLP is proud to have achieved RTPI Learning Partner accreditation for the quality of its graduate training.

Ciaran joined NLP’s London office in 2004 and specialises in spatial economics and strategy. His expertise includes local economic assessment (LEA), PPS4 studies and employment space reviews. He has extensive experience in assessing the economic impacts of development and policy, and leads on regeneration studies. His clients include developers and investors, central government and local authorities.

Michael joined NLP’s Newcastle office in 2004, prior to which he worked for a planning consultancy in London and a local authority in the North East. Michael works in the housing team and is involved in a variety of projects in the North East, Yorkshire and Scotland including major urban extensions and schemes requiring the negotiation of affordable housing. He also has experience in planning for retail and hotel development and has worked with the Regional Development Agencies on planning and housing matters.

Stephen Hyland joined NLP Manchester in 2010. Previously Associate Director of WYG and Commercial Planning Director at Savills, Stephen is an Expert Witness who specialises in commercial and infrastructure development projects and advising local planning authorities on retail, leisure and town centre development. His expertise is in writing socio-economic assessments and retail and leisure studies.

She is currently working on a range of retail-led projects in the West Midlands, London and Sussex, including major, mixed use, developments.

Kathryn joined NLP in 2007, after spending two years working for a leading planning consultancy in Sydney, Australia, and previously private consultancies in Bristol. Kathryn has gained experience for private and public sector clients on projects including the co-ordination of planning applications for major mixed use commercial, residential, retail and tourist developments, the preparation of masterplans and planning research commissions.

Diane joined NLP in 2000 and is the Office Manager for our Newcastle office. Diane has experience in the administration of all aspects of office management, including the handling of accommodation requirements of the offices as well as ensuring staff prosper in a good working environment.

Technical Associate Director
Francis joined NLP in 1988 after 11 years experience in the public sector including the London Boroughs' of Enfield and Barnet and Broxbourne District Council, where he was involved in the production of their development plan proposals map. Francis manages NLP's drawing office in London and is familiar with a wide range of digital mapping and information systems.
