Margaret Baddeley BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI ARICS Senior Associate Director Margaret Baddeley joined NLP in 1983. She has very considerable experience in all aspects of development planning, including specialising in the monitoring of emerging law and policy, commenting for and on behalf of clients and providing significant in-house advice on others' projects.

Jacqui Deans BA(Hons) MPhil MRTPI Senior Associate Director Jacqui rejoined NLP in 2005. She has a wide range of planning consultancy experience and multi-disciplinary project experience, having also worked for Railtrack plc and Thamelink 2000. Jacqui’s experience has been gained in London, overseas and more recently Manchester. Jacqui has worked on a variety of development planning projects for a diverse client base, including office headquarters, an eco-town and new retail stores and extensions.

David Graham BA(Hons) DipTP ABIAT MRTPI Senior Associate Director Dave joined NLP in 1997 and leads the Newcastle office's Housing Team, clients of which include developers, landowners, house builders and the public sector. Dave has extensive experience in other areas of work including sports and recreation, hotels and leisure and education.

Anthony Greally BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Senior Associate Director Anthony joined NLP in 1999 and leads the Town Centres and Retail Team in the company’s Newcastle office. He specialises in major retail and commercial development projects throughout the north of England and Scotland, providing advice to retailers, developers, asset managers and urban regeneration companies.

Andy Groves MBA DipTP BA(Hons) MRTPI MIED Senior Associate Director Andy has recently joined NLP from One NorthEast where he was responsible for delivering their role in regional planning and housing strategy. He also represented all Regional Development Agencies influencing national policy making. He is responsible for leading the Regeneration Team in the Newcastle Office which specialises in research, strategic policy assignments and regeneration masterplanning.

David Gurtler BA(Hons) BPl DipSurv MRTPI Senior Associate Director David joined NLP in October 2005 having worked previously for a London based planning consultancy and three London Boroughs. He has considerable experience of major projects, including BAA’s Terminal 5 and BA’s Waterside headquarters at Heathrow. David co-ordinates NLP's work at a number of airports in the South East, and is also responsible for major projects in the education, housing and regeneration sectors.

Christopher Harrison BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Senior Associate Director Chris joined NLP in 2000 and now leads the Special Projects Team in the company’s Newcastle office. He specialises in delivering complex, major strategic development proposals throughout the north of England, providing advice to house builders, commercial developers and leisure operators. In addition Chris has also prepared research documentation for Government bodies including the Regional Government Office, North East Assembly and Regional Development Agency.

Daniel Lampard BA(Hons) DipTP Dip(PD&P) MRTPI Senior Associate Director Daniel joined NLP in 1997. He has wide experience in advising private and public sector clients including major retailers, developers and local authorities. He specialises in retail, economic development and development control issues.

Dennis Pope BA(Hons) DipTP MSc MRTPI Senior Associate Director Dennis joined NLP in 2002 having previously been the Partner responsible for the Fuller Peiser London Office Planning Department. His experience covers many aspects of development planning, including co-ordinating planning applications for large complex projects. He has focused both on commercial and mixed-use development projects and providing property advice to NLP’s corporate clients.

Christine Reeves Bsc(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Senior Associate Director Christine joined NLP in June 2004 having previously worked in the Town Planning and Site Research departments at Tesco Stores Ltd. She advises on all aspects of retail development, including retail capacity and impact studies and local and national policy. She also has considerable experience relating to food retailing, planning research and data analysis.

John Robertson BSc Dip Computing Science DipTP MRTPI MIED Senior Associate Director John joined NLP in 1988. He has a wide range of planning experience over 30 years in both local government and private practice, throughout the UK and overseas. He leads the firm's research and economics teams and has particular expertise in research studies, regeneration and economic impact assessment, environmental impact assessment, education and airport development.

Michael Russell BA(Hons) MRTPI Senior Associate Director Michael joined NLP’s London office in 2006 following extensive experience in the public sector in both urban and rural locations. He has a wide range of planning experience and specialises in development control issues, large scale mixed use, commercial, and residential schemes. Michael also specialises in the preparation of environmental statements.

Suzanne Allin BSc(Hons) MPhil MRTPI Associate Director Suzanne joined NLP's London office in 2006 having previously worked at a London based planning consultancy. She has gained a wide range of planning experience for both public and private sector clients. Suzanne specialises in town centre and retail planning, with a focus on food and non-food retail, leisure and mixed use schemes.

Nick Baker BSc(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Nick joined NLP’s London office in 2005, having worked in both the private and public sectors. He has experience advising on a range of residential, industrial, commercial and mixed use developments. He specialises in retail development, and has promoted planning applications for food and non-food retail schemes in a range of town centre and other locations throughout the UK. Alongside larger retail and mixed use projects, he currently specialises in convenience retailing.

Peter Claxton BA(Hons) MA Associate Director Peter joined NLP’s London office in 2004. He has a wide range of technology management experience gained in the construction industry working for some of the largest architects and designers and as a technology consultant.

Andy Cockett BA(Hons) BTP MRTPI Associate Director Andy joined NLP in 2008 from Spawforths in Leeds and prior to that worked in the public sector. He has a wide range of planning experience for both private and public sector clients and specialises in large scale mixed use, residential, commercial, and industrial schemes together with extensive experience in the coordination of Environmental Statements.

Daniel Cooke Associate Director Daniel joined NLP in June 2000 having previously worked in Finance in the Retail & Pharmaceutical industries. Daniel manages NLP's Finance Department and has a wide range of experience in all aspects of the Finance Office.

Simon Coop BA(Hons) MSc MRTPI Associate Director Simon joined NLP in 2002 and has particular experience in dealing in housing and economic development matters. He has a keen interest in the establishment and implementation of a vision for an area, the identification of need for new development and the delivery of change. Simon works for public and private sector clients and is experienced in the promotion of development, the evaluation and implementation of policy and in undertaking practical research projects.

Hayley Cross BSc(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Hayley joined NLP in 2003 and has a wide range of experience advising both public and private sector clients. She specialises in town centre and retail planning, with a particular focus on advising major retailers, developers and fund managers in respect of retail and commercial-led development projects. Hayley is experienced in coordinating project teams and delivering major planning applications for new retail developments and store extensions. Hayley also advises on mixed-use, residential and employment schemes.

Ruth Diggle BA (hons) Associate Director Ruth joined NLP in 2005 having previously worked for a private planning consultancy practice in London. Ruth focuses on residential and mixed use development projects in London and the south east. For residential schemes, she has worked with both private developers and affordable housing providers, including those providing specialist and supported accommodation. She is also experienced in town centre and retail planning, advising owners and operators of major retail assets across the country.

Kay Fairgrieve BA(Hons) Chartered MCIPD Associate Director Kay joined in 2004, having worked in HR Management for a variety of companies throughout her career. She has extensive experience of setting up the HR function for small and medium sized businesses as well as working for much larger firms. Her role at NLP is wide ranging but with an emphasis on recruitment and development. NLP is proud to have achieved RTPI Learning Partner accreditation for the quality of its graduate training.

Helen Farrow MRTPI, MRICS AIEMA Associate Director Helen joined NLP in 2003 after gaining extensive experience in the public sector. Helen specialises in large scale mixed use schemes, infrastructure projects, hotel and leisure schemes and projects requiring Environmental Impact Assessments. Helen's client involve a wide range of private and public sector clients.

Nicola Furlonger BSc(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Since joining NLP in 1996, Nicola has been involved in a variety of projects, focussing on large commercial schemes in London and the South East. Her experience covers a broad spectrum of issues and areas of planning, including environmental impact assessments, listed buildings and conservation areas, office, residential and town centre schemes.

Ciaran Gunne-Jones BA(Hons) MSc FRGS MIED Associate Director Ciaran joined NLP’s London office in 2004 and specialises in spatial economics and strategy. His expertise includes local economic assessment (LEA), PPS4 studies and employment space reviews. He has extensive experience in assessing the economic impacts of development and policy, and leads on regeneration studies. His clients include developers and investors, central government and local authorities.

Michael Hepburn BA(Hons) MTP MRTPI Associate Director Michael joined NLP’s Newcastle office in 2004, prior to which he worked for a planning consultancy in London and a local authority in the North East. Michael works in the housing team and is involved in a variety of projects in the North East, Yorkshire and Scotland including major urban extensions and schemes requiring the negotiation of affordable housing. He also has experience in planning for retail and hotel development and has worked with the Regional Development Agencies on planning and housing matters.

Brendan Hodges BA(Hons) MPhil MRTPI Associate Director Brendan joined NLP’s London office in 2004 from architects / planners Broadway Malyan. Prior to that, he spent eleven years at Westminster City Council. He has a wide range of experience working for both private and public sector clients and specialises in development control issues, housing, mixed-use schemes, and heritage / conservation.

Stephen Hyland BSc (Hons) DipTP (Dist) MRTPI Associate Director Stephen Hyland joined NLP Manchester in 2010. Previously Associate Director of WYG and Commercial Planning Director at Savills, Stephen is an Expert Witness who specialises in commercial and infrastructure development projects and advising local planning authorities on retail, leisure and town centre development. His expertise is in writing socio-economic assessments and retail and leisure studies.

Gillian Jones BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Gillian joined NLP’s Cardiff office in 2003 having previously worked for a planning consultancy in London. Having had a wide range of experience of planning in the private sector, Gillian now specialises in retail planning for both private and public sector clients, although she continues to be involved with mixed use/regeneration projects.

Ben Kelway BSc (Hons) MPhil MRTPI Associate Director Ben joined NLP in 2002 as a planner. He has been involved in a wide range of work for public and private sector clients and is experienced in built heritage studies, landscape and visual impact assessments and daylight/sunlight analysis. Ben has worked on a number of major mixed use and residential-led projects, often involving tall buildings, and is experienced in the management and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments.

Ian Kettlewell BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Ian joined NLP in 2007 after gaining extensive experience in the public sector, including more than 6 years at Newcastle City Council. Ian specialises in development management issues relating to complex planning applications. He works in the company's Newcastle office and advises a range of clients on commercial and residential development projects in the north of England and Scotland.

Judith Livesey BA(Hons) MA MRTPI Associate Director Judith joined NLP in 1998 having previously worked for Barnsely MBC. She specialises in urban design and heritage projects. Her experience covers a range of masterplanning, site layout/capacity studies, townscape and visual impact assessments, conservation area and listed building appraisals, daylight/sunlight assessments and urban design guidance.

Nicki Mableson BA(Hons) BPl MRTPI AIEMA Associate Director Nicki joined NLP in 2002 having previously worked for five years in private consultancy based in Manchester. Her experience encompasses a wide variety of projects focusing on applications for large scale commercial and mixed use regeneration and including residential, education and town centre schemes and the co-ordination of environmental impact assessment.

John MacKenzie BSc(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director John joined NLP’s Manchester office in June 2007, having previously worked in private planning consultancy in the North West since 1996. John’s experience includes advising clients on a wide range of planning and development issues, including the preparation of development appraisals; formulation and negotiation on development proposals; promoting sites through the development plan process; and, Section 78 and enforcement appeals.

Justine Matchett BSc(Hons) MA MRTPI Associate Director Justine joined NLP in 1994 and currently heads the general planning team in Newcastle. Concentrating on general commercial development projects she has worked on a wide variety of projects for the public and private sectors throughout Northern England and Scotland. Areas of particular interest include major infrastructure projects including ports, telecommunications and other utilities.

Nathan Matta MTCP MRTPI AIEMA Associate Director Nathan joined NLP’s Manchester office in 2008, having worked in both the private and public sectors. He has a wide range of experience, focusing on residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes and the management and co-ordination of Environmental Impact Assessments.

Sarah Perryman BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Sarah joined NLP in 2002 and has a broad range of experience working with both public and private sector clients on a variety of projects. Sarah specialises in town centre and retail planning, with a particular focus on major mixed use development proposals. She has also worked on numerous local authority retail, leisure and town centre strategies.

Claire Stephenson BSc(Hons) MSc MRTPI Associate Director Claire joined NLP in 2003 having previously worked for a private consultancy based in the south east. Having had a wide range of private sector planning experience Claire now specializes in major town and city centre regeneration schemes although she continues to be involved in other retail and housing projects. She is also experienced in the management and co-ordination of Environmental Impact Assessments.

Shyama Trivedy-Chouhan BSc (Hons) AIED Associate Director Shyama joined NLP in 2008, having previously worked for a private planning consultancy in London. Shyama advises on urban and community regeneration. This includes delivery of public policy objectives, neighbourhood renewal and management, and local economic development. She also advises on socio-economic assessment and social infrastructure for major development schemes and strategic regeneration projects.

Sophie Waring BA(Hons) BTP MRTPI Associate Director Sophie joined NLP in 2008 having worked for several years for a property consultancy in the West Midlands. She has worked on a range of projects covering all key sectors of the property market with a particular focus on major mixed-use and residential-led development. Sophie has extensive experience of coordinating and delivering major planning applications.

Hannah Whitney BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI Associate Director Hannah joined NLP in 2002. She works for a variety of clients in the leisure, commercial, housing and education sectors. Hannah specialises in leisure and tourism developments and has experience providing general development control advice and dealing with sensitive policy sites, such as green belt locations.

Nia Wilkinson BSc(Hons) MPhil MRTPI Associate Director Nia joined NLP in July 2004 having previously worked at London based planning consultancies. Nia has gained experience on a wide range of projects of varying scale. These have included town centre and mixed use schemes, hotel, leisure and commercial developments. Her role includes the coordination of project teams to prepare and submit planning applications. She is currently working on a range of retail-led projects in the West Midlands, London and Sussex, including major, mixed use, developments.

Kathryn Wrigley BA(Hons) MA MPIA MRTPI Associate Director Kathryn joined NLP in 2007, after spending two years working for a leading planning consultancy in Sydney, Australia, and previously private consultancies in Bristol. Kathryn has gained experience for private and public sector clients on projects including the co-ordination of planning applications for major mixed use commercial, residential, retail and tourist developments, the preparation of masterplans and planning research commissions.

Diane Harriman Technical Associate Director Diane joined NLP in 2000 and is the Office Manager for our Newcastle office. Diane has experience in the administration of all aspects of office management, including the handling of accommodation requirements of the offices as well as ensuring staff prosper in a good working environment.

Francis Powell ASTPT Technical Associate Director Francis joined NLP in 1988 after 11 years experience in the public sector including the London Boroughs' of Enfield and Barnet and Broxbourne District Council, where he was involved in the production of their development plan proposals map. Francis manages NLP's drawing office in London and is familiar with a wide range of digital mapping and information systems.
