Cardiff Council has been given a deadline of 25 March to decide as to whether it wishes to proceed with the Examination into the emerging Cardiff LDP.
NLP, acting on behalf of Trustees of Plymouth Estates has been promoting the development of a mixed-use sustainable urban extension of up to 4,000 dwellings west of Cardiff. Through this work, NLP has advocated a release of greenfield land in order to ensure the sustainable growth of the City and surrounding region. These issues were raised at the LDP Exploratory meeting on 25 February 2010 and led to the Examination Inspector setting a deadline of 25 March for the Council to decide whether it wishes to proceed with the Examination in light of the concerns raised.
NLP Director, Gareth Williams commented: "We are pleased that the Inspector has recognised our concerns and we trust that the Council will now look to revise their LDP strategy to make provision for some greenfield land releases in order that the need for family and affordable housing can be met."
