NLP has secured planning permission for the change of use of a Grade II listed building within the historic Pantiles area of Tunbridge Wells from mixed residential and retail to retail use, for Jack Wills and landowner Targetfollow. To justify the proposal, which was contrary to Local Plan Policy, NLP prepared a PPS5 compliant heritage statement assessing the effect of the works on the significance of the building and planning statement justifying the loss of a residential unit.
A Rejuvenation Strategy that set out an agreed vision and framework for the sensitive enhancement of the historic Pantiles area had been prepared by NLP on behalf of Targetfollow, and endorsed by the Council. It sought to raise the profile and improve its vitality and viability. NLP Associate Director, Judith Livesey commented "The agreed Rejuvenation Strategy was crucial in persuading the Council that the proposed change of use was acceptable."
